Fun Facts

I like to spend my free time snowboarding, mountain biking, or in the garden. I enjoy working on projects as well, from design to manufacture and my favorite part of each project is the unique problems that arise. I do a lot of work in SolidWorks and other 3D modeling programs and I enjoy using the student machine shop at UW to create parts for my projects.

About Me

I graduated from the washington">University of Washington with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a 3.5 GPa. Now I am a master's student at UW again in M.E. This is my 7th year going to school and living here (moved from Louisiana in 2008). I am working on my thesis which is on computer simulations of curved composite surfaces like pressure vessels. After I graduate, I plan to take time off to ride my bike from Canada to Mexico and then get a job next fall in aerospace or sporting goods making bicycle frames or similar.

I have been teaching at a college level for 4 years now and holding office hours as well. This has helped me tremendously in how to accommodate different types of students and how everyone learns differently. I also am a frequent resource for my friends to get help thinking through a problem even if I don't necessarily know the material (quantum physics for example, I know nothing about it, but I can frame problems and break them down)

From my experience teaching, I have learned how to approach problems from different angles and how to explain difficult material in multiple ways. My mother was also a teacher and helped build a foundation for customizing instruction based on individual learning styles and different teaching styles. I will be able to figure out my best approach for each individual.
