Fun Facts

I am Mexican-American and grew up traveling to Mexico every summer. I love to travel and have been to more than ten countries! I love music and have been known to burst into song every now and then! Though I don't play soccer, I love the sport! I am an avid fan of Sporting KC, and even took a class at Harvard all about soccer. I got to meet Landon Donovan and ask him questions about his career!

About Me

I graduated in May, 2015, from Harvard University, Cum Laude, with a degree in Romance Languages and Literature with a focus on Spanish and French. During my time at Harvard, I completed the pre-medical requirements, in addition to studying economics, statistics, and ethics. My goal, however, is to enter business with a focus in international finance.

Experience

In High School, I tutored students twice a week in multiple subjects including Spanish, French, and math. When I became a freshman in college, I knew I wanted to continue teaching in some capacity, so I became a CPR instructor for the Red Cross. I taught classes for the Boston chapter, as well as sessions around campus. Eventually, I became the head instructor at my university, managing ten to fifteen instructor students.

Approach

I find that the best way to tackle a problem, regardless of how big or complicated it might seem, is to break it down into smaller, more manageable pieces. Setting smaller, more attainable goals, is less overwhelming. I also find that story-telling is the best way to engage students. If I can add a personal anecdote to a lesson, I think the student can more easily relate to the problem. Homework doesn't have to be a chore, it can be interesting and fun!
