Fun Facts

I have danced since I was 2, from ballet, tap, jazz, all the way to Scottish Highland dance at the professional level. I danced even funk and kick routines on my dance team and held lead roles in ballets like Odette, Dewdrop Fairy. I also love to read, paint and even sew costumes (tutus included). My creative outlets allow me to see many facets of the world and beauty in all. I am an EMT, fluent in Spanish, love pirates, mermaids, Harry Potter and can lay tile, make pinatas and decorate cakes.

About Me

I have a Masters degree from NCSU in Microbiology. Pursuing research from Molecular Neuropharmacology to the role of pathogens in hepatocellular carcinoma has led me from Biomath to Biochem to Microbiology. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with honors, a BS in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I began my undergraduate degree at Wake Forest, achieving the Dean's list all semesters I attended Wake and UNC. Teaching is my ultimate goal, though originally it was medicine.

Experience

I began grad school a TA teaching Anatomy & Physiology and Cellular & Molecular Bio labs. Enjoying teaching more than I could have expected, I next got an opportunity to teach a Pharmacology course for DukeTIP's summer program. While continuing my education, I was fortunate to then salem">tutor extensively. These experiences as well as being a dance team captain with leadership roles in many ballets have imparted a profound, persistent love of teaching I can't deny and taught me numerous things myself.

Approach

There is nothing as rewarding as seeing years of one's hard work come to fruition by using that to help others learn, to impart that love to others. Helping students is to see that hard work has a loftier goal than merely one's own gain, but instead to teach, to exemplify to many other promising students. Having the ability to impact precious lives and minds is a privilege and a great responsibility. Finally, patience, adaptability and creativity are crucial tools in being a successful salem">tutor.
