Fun Facts

I have a Masters in Quantitative Biology, and am a full-time professional rated- figure skating coach-- I have been figure skating since I was five years old, and my love of pedagogy brought me back to the ice, from the classroom. Anyone who knows me realizes I am far more grace ON the ice, than I am off of it!

I also play the piano, and used to be in the Royal Conservatory in Canada, as well as the National Piano Guild in the U.S.

About Me

I am a recent graduate of University of Texas of Arlington, having completed my studies for a Master of Science in Quantitative Biology studying retrotransposons, the jumping genes. I have also completed several hours at the doctoral level for both Quantitative Biology, as well as Kinesiology, focusing on Exercise Physiology. My Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree is from dallas-baptist-university">Dallas Baptist University, and I graduated in 2015 with my Cell Biology degree with double minors in Chemistry and Kinesiology.

I am a member of and was the President of the Omicron Kappa chapter of the Beta Beta Beta National Honors Biological Society (BBB). I also served as Treasurer of this chapter for two years. I am a member of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. I also volunteer-intern at Good Shepherd Hospice, in my free time.

Though I am not an English major, the subject of English has always been a passion of mine, and as such, it is one of my minors. At my previous university, I was the Opinions Editor for the school newspaper, which allowed me to pursue my love of expository writing. I have had much success in arlington">tutoring students in English subjects such as Reading & Comprehension, Literacy, Writing, etc. I also arlington">tutor piano, however I no longer arlington">tutor advanced piano as it has been a long time since I have performed at a higher level.

Currently, I am self-employed as a professional figure skating coach. I absolutely love what I do and apply my love of teaching to all aspects of my life, both in and outside the classroom.

Experience

I am capable of arlington">tutoring many subjects, and have had lots of experience-- and success-- with my students. Among some of the subjects that I arlington">tutor, I have had much success with arlington">tutoring SAT/ACT prep, science (Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Chemistry [general and organic], Biology, Microbiology, Pre-Algebra, Writing, Reading and Comprehension, Study Skills, Kinesiology, and Nutrition). Though I am not an English major, the subject of English is one I also enjoy arlington">tutoring.

Approach

There is no “one-size fits all” approach to arlington">tutoring. I take into account that individuals can be visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and/or reading/writing-type learners—as such, I always tailor the arlington">tutoring sessions to best-fit my client’s needs. In every arlington">tutoring session, I enter with a personalized "game plan" for the student(s). In our first session I do an assessment, evaluate for any academic weaknesses, and then formulate a targeted-approach to help the student strengthen those areas.
